Gwen Worth's look of despair evoked memories of the past when I had been so spitefully jealous of her.
The reason being that Dixon had showered her with all of his attention and warmth.
At that time, I had been completely ignorant of the fact that the guy I had had a wholehearted crush on nine years prior and the man I had married later on were two different people. I had naively showered him with my love and surmised that mutual respect would be a given even if love did not exist in our marriage.
