Chapter 971
Eloise wasn't in the mood for a vacation anymore; the place had become too terrifying. "Are we going back to the cave?"
"No, we're staying here tonight," Ryan decided after careful thought.
Eloise's fear was overwhelming, her legs weak, and her heart nearly gave out on her. "We're still staying the night here? I'm scared, Ryan!"
He took her hand and gave it a reassuring pat.
"It's safer here than trying to go back now. We're too far from the campsite, it's late, and the darkness is too thick to spot dangers like venomous snakes and spiders, even with torches. At least in this vacation house, we have some protection. Out in the open, we'd be too vulnerable."
Eloise understood his reasoning, but the terror she'd just experienced left her too shaken. Seeing her lack of response, Ryan knew words alone wouldn't calm her.
"Let's build more fires! If the aboriginals are putting them out, it means they're afraid of them. The more they extinguish, the more we'll build!"
