Chapter 911
"It didn't die when it was shot in the jaw, huh?" Camelia echoed Ryan's words as she made her way to the pond. He picked up the crossbow and followed her.
The area was riddled with wildebeest tracks from where they had gathered to drink. Blood trailed from the pond into the dense jungle.
"Ryan, please grab a torch!"
"Why?" he asked.
She answered gravely, "If you hit its jaw, it shouldn't have survived—unless it's something beyond the ordinary."
Ryan understood immediately. He found a torch quickly, given all the fires they had made during the day.
"Just follow the blood trail!" she instructed.
Ryan illuminated the ground, but his gaze momentarily wandered to her feet, traveling up her slender ankles, fair calves, and smooth thighs.
"Ahem, focus!" Camelia chided him gently.
"Right!" Ryan snapped back to attention and trailed the blood deeper into the woods.
Suddenly, he saw a fallen wildebeest and yelled at Camelia, "It's over there!"
Reloading the crossbow quickly, Ryan fire
