Chapter 10

"It's been such a long time, but no one is here yet. Are we really going to wait here and die?" Sherry's face turned pale. Her voice trembled with panic. As soon as she finished speaking, a rustling sound rang out from outside. It sounded like footsteps. Upon hearing this, Sherry jumped up instantly. Ryan also snapped to his senses. He sat up and carefully listened to the sounds outside. It would be best if their fire attracted Nina to their rescue. Nina was very clever. She would surely think of a way to save them. The worst-case scenario would be encountering Yasmine, that despicable woman. Yasmine was all looks and no brains. She was a complete dumbass. She wouldn't know how to save anyone. What was worse, Yasmine was extremely malicious. She would wish for Ryan to die immediately. If it was Yasmine who came, not only would she refuse to help them, but she might even worsen their situation. As Ryan was lost in his thoughts, Sherry had already begun shouting for help. "Is anyone there? Has someone come to rescue us? Help! We've fallen down here! Can anyone save us?" Sherry shouted several times but received no response. She became exhausted and out of breath. Panting, she stopped shouting. After taking a brief rest, she prepared to shout again. "Stop it. You'll tire yourself out before anyone comes. Here, use this to knock against the wall. It can create quite a loud noise." Ryan handed a stone to Sherry and took one for himself as well. After knocking for a long time, the sounds outside suddenly disappeared. Nobody responded to them. Just as both of them were about to give up, they suddenly heard people talking not far away. "Wait a minute. Did you hear that? There are sounds over there. It sounds like the sound of stones being knocked against a wall." "Animals don't knock stones. There must be someone there!" "Let's go. We should check it out." Sherry and Ryan heard the voices. Before Sherry could react, Ryan recognized one of the voices. The person speaking was Eloise. She had introduced herself as a senior student majoring in vocal music. Soon, the footsteps approached closer. Sherry shouted at the top of her lungs, "Help! Please save us!" The next second, two heads appeared from above the pit. Ryan lifted his head and looked up. His heart instantly sank. The worst-case scenario had come true. Two people had arrived. One was Eloise, and the other one was Yasmine! "Eloise, Yasmine! It's you guys! We accidentally fell into this pit. Please, find a way to rescue us!" Sherry immediately recognized the two of them. She pleaded. Eloise was also surprised. She quickly said, "Sherry? And Ryan? How did you two end up here?" "It's a long story, but please find a way to rescue us first." Without looking at Yasmine, Ryan said to Eloise instead, "You can try to get help and bring others to rescue us together. As a reward, I can help you find some food." He knew these women now believed Yasmine's words and were wary of him. So, he proactively stated his conditions in exchange. It was also to make Yasmine weigh the pros and cons so she wouldn't stir up trouble at a crucial time like this. Clearly, Eloise became tempted when she heard him mention "food". After hesitating briefly, she immediately nodded and said, "Okay, I'll go find everyone now and bring them over to rescue you." "That's great, Eloise. Thank you! When we get rescued, I'll treat you to a trip around the world!" Sherry was deeply moved. Right after she finished her sentence, Yasmin snorted coldly. "A trip around the world? Let's see if you can even make it out alive." With that, Yasmine grabbed Eloise, who was about to call for help. "What did you mean by that, Yasmine?" Ryan had a sense of foreboding. His face darkened as he asked. "What did I mean? I meant I won't let her go and call for help for you. Ryan, you should just die here." Yasmine covered her mouth and laughed triumphantly. Perhaps because there were no outsiders here, and Ryan would die soon, Yasmine couldn't be bothered to hide her true nature anymore. With a vicious smile, she gloated toward Ryan, saying, "Didn't I make myself clear enough? I wish you could die here. You'd better not show up in front of me again. "Aren't you a capable guy? You even made Nina willingly offer herself to you. What happened now? Where's Nina? "Ryan, you're a worthless piece of trash. You should just quietly wait here to die. To think you deluded yourself into believing we would go find help for you, how absurd. "The biggest regret of my life is marrying such a worthless piece of trash like you. But now it's all for the better. Now, luck is on my side. Once the rescue team arrives, I can return and live happily with my lover. "As for you, hah, you won't have a chance to survive. Not only will I not help you, but when I go back later, I'll also deceive the others into leaving. I'll make sure they stay far away from this place. "Even if you scream your lungs out, no one will come." The two girls were shocked and left speechless by Yasmine's heartless words. They looked at her with fear in their eyes. Ryan was the only one who didn't seem surprised. Ever since the accident, he had seen through Yasmine's despicable nature. She was selfish and remorseless. She always took other people's kindness for granted. Yasmine was no longer deserving of being called human. She was more like a cold-blooded animal. So, Ryan made a firm decision and gave up on the idea of asking Yasmine for help. Yasmine would never help them. She would only make fun of them. Ryan simply cast Yasmine a calm glance. "Fine, I'll remember what you said. You better pray I die here. Otherwise, I swear, once I make it out of here alive, I will make you pay a painful price. You will regret what you've done today." Ryan's cold and emotionless words sent a chill down Yasmine's spine. She shivered involuntarily. Deep down, she had a feeling that she would be doomed if Ryan made it out of this place alive. Soon, Yasmine regained her composure and looked at Ryan with a cold smirk. "You worthless piece of trash. You're acting tough even at death's door. Wait until you can crawl out of here before you speak. Eloise, let's go!" With that, she grabbed Eloise and tried to leave. "But... Yasmine, these are two lives at stake after all. No, I can't just stand by and watch two people die in front of me. I have to go help them!" Eloise's face turned pale, and she spoke in panic. Before she could finish her sentence, Yasmine's expression changed. She said in a grim tone, "Girl, you better watch your mouth and stop talking nonsense." "Otherwise, I'll push you down right now and let you die with them. Then, you won't be lonely even in death." "If you dare to go back and secretly tell others about this, just wait! I have plenty of ways to torture you! Now, hurry up and leave!" Yasmine lashed out at Eloise, and they left while pushing and shoving at each other. Their voices gradually faded away, along with Eloise's sobbing. The pit returned to silence again.
