"But…" Camelia whispered. She couldn't bring herself to aim at the lioness' eyes, no matter how hard she tried.
Ryan glanced at Camelia, quickly grasping the situation. "You're worried that if you shoot its eyes, it won't be able to hunt for its cubs, right?"
Camelia responded with a soft hum of acknowledgment. She understood that animals lived by the principle of the survival of the fittest, but she just couldn't do it. After a moment of thought, Ryan suggested, "Then aim for one of the cub's legs instead."
If Camelia hit the cub's leg, the protective mother would likely take the two cubs and leave.
Camelia adjusted her aim, now targeting the right foreleg of one of the cubs.
Her arrow struck the cub's right foreleg with precision. The cub collapsed to the ground, whimpering in pain, and began licking its wound.
The lioness rushed over to help, using its paw to nudge at the arrow. It was desperate to pull the arrow out with its teeth.
