Chapter 102: The Hidden Truth.
The first light of dawn finalized its work by giving Liam and Chloe a little semblance of purpose in the room. They sat, facing each other, at the table in the kitchen. The mysterious letter lay between them; its words turned cryptic in their minds. Telegant was old and well-used, keeping some secrets that had not yet been left aside.
"Who do you think sent it?" Chloe's eyes roamed over the elegant, if faded, handwriting.
Liam drew a slow breath, and his eyes steadied. "I have a hunch. This style and choice of words—it's someone we knew long ago."
"Who?" Chloe asked.
"Sir Edmund," Liam said. "The grizzled knight. Do you all remember? He who came to our defense during the battle in Ravenswood?"
Then Chloe's eyes went wide with what she had realized. "Oh, of course. He was brilliant and kind. But why now would he send us this?"
"And that's what we got to find out," Liam said, shoving his shoulders.
