CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY FOUR – MEETING THE BETRAYER
The cold rain lashed against Karina's face as she stared up at the imposing wrought iron gates. Beyond them loomed a dilapidated manor house, its shuttered windows glaring down like soulless eyes. This was the last place Nancy had been tracked to - her self-imposed exile.
"Are you sure about this?" John's voice was a low rumble beside her, echoing her own doubts. His eyes were narrowed at the decrepit manor, lips pressed into a grim line.
Zaya shrugged off her soaked cloak. "We're out of options, brother. Nancy's our only lead on the Sanctus' operations."
"She betrayed us once already," John growled. "Who's to say the druid won't turn on us again the moment it suits her interests?"
"Have a little faith." Zaya smirked humourlessly. "I can be very...persuasive."
