CHAPTER THIRTEEN – THE BRIDE IS SCORNED
Karina left the dinner feeling confused yet excited. She needed to talk to Kayla about everything that happened. She pulled out her phone and sent a text.
"Hey, can we meet at the park? I need to talk."
A few minutes later, Kayla replied. "Sure, I'll be there in 20 minutes."
When Karina arrived at the park, she found a bench under a big oak tree and waited. She replayed the dinner in her mind - John's charming smile, the romantic setting, the way he looked at her. But she couldn't forget the incident at the wedding hall either.
Soon, Kayla came jogging up the path towards her. "Hey girl, what's up?"
Karina smiled weakly. "Lots to catch you up on."
Kayla sat down beside her. "I'm sorry about siding with your parents on the Matthew thing. That was wrong of me."
"It's okay," Karina said. "I get why you did it."
"No, let me make it right." Kayla put her hand on Karina's arm. "You're my best friend. I should support you, not an arranged marriage you don't want."
Karina felt relieve
