Circe cleared her throat to put an end to the awkward air that fell on them.
“We were just talking about you, Sir Dante!” she said.
Dante raised an eyebrow. “Oh?”
Aurelia exchanged looks with Circe, who quick-wittedly said, “We were just talking about how Aurelia’s marriage is going, and that it looks like she’s the perfect spouse for you!”
“You aren’t wrong,” Dante hummed, squeezing Aurelia closer to his side. “I can never ask for someone better than my beloved Aurelia.”
“Stop bluffing,” she huffed, turning her head to the side to hide the shameful heat spreading across her face.
“It looks like she’s still upset over the fact that I let her go alone on this cruise,” Dante mused. “I’ll have to apologize, ladies and gentlemen. Please allow me to make it up to my wife. It wouldn’t be good for her to continue boiling over this.”
Without waiting for Circe and the others to answer, Dante swept Aurelia away before she could even protest and use her friends as an excuse
