"Who were you treating?" Adler’s hands clenched, and he seemed very excited.
But Calantha wasn't looking at Adler; she was reminiscing about her childhood.
"A little boy," Calanta said nostalgically. Actually, I've forgotten what he looked like. Mom said he was very handsome, but he couldn't hear. An explosion deafened him. Dad said he was a kidnapped child, and no parents came to pick him up, so Dad brought him home."
"The little boy couldn't hear or speak; he just stared blankly," Calantha said.
"I wanted to become a doctor to treat his ears so we could play together. But when I came back from summer camp, the little boy had already been taken away by his family. I even bought him a gift, but unfortunately, I didn't get to give it to him."
Adler asked, "What gift was it?"
"A new pocket watch," Calantha said with a smile.
