Chapter 30

Tana was coming back to the house as it was raining. Fred, her boyfriend, saw her coming in and went out to meet her as the rain rushed down. He hurried her up the walk, through the grounds, and into the house; but they were quite wet before they could enter into the living room. He was taking off her jacket in the living room, and drying off the water out of her loosened, soft hair, when Wendy emerged from her room. Wendy is her boyfriend's younger sister who came for the holidays at his place. She did not observe them at first, nor did Tana and Fred. The light bulb was switched on. The clock was on the stroke of eleven. He kissed her repeatedly. When he looked up, on leaving his arms, there stood the widow, pale and amazed. He only smiled at her, and ran upstairs. Fred went into the room as they began to undress, as he found her attractive that night. She slowly started to undress too as she was left with her inner gown.
