CHAPTER 186 INFALLIBLE PROVES
As Jake released Nate, Samantha came and crushed him in a hug, too. “I’m glad, Nate, that you trusted us.”
“There is nothing there to thank me for, Mum,” Nate said as they separated. “I doubted you two at some point, and for that, I am sorry.”
Samantha nodded grimly, and together with Nate, they sat down. Nate smiled at them as his mind went down memory lane.
The day he stormed out of the house, Camilla called, asking to meet him in the office after late hours. He initially was going to refuse the offer, but Nate had grown to see Camilla as her favorite aunt, so he couldn’t refuse her.
That evening, he stood before his floor-to-ceiling window, watching the cars in the parking lot, belonging to the staff as they reversed and drove into the night. He watched them, and somehow, he struggled to place side by side the fact that his father managed to build an elaborate organization like this one, yet he had to engage in malicious activities, the same things he told him to avoid.
