The morning sunlight streaming through the windows highlighted the warm, golden tones of the breakfast room, bouncing over the smooth, multicolored tiles of the dining table.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and toasted bread filled the air, and suddenly Nate, his eyes shining with excitement, turned to his mom while chewing a piece of toast and said, "You know all my friends and classmates think you are cool."
Samantha gave him a pleased smile, "really?"
"Yeah, I think so too," he added, then glanced at his father.
"Don't you want to know why they think that?"He asked when his mom didn't say anything immediately.
"I was going to," she replied, "I was just taking my time to soak in the flattery."
She smothered a laugh when Jake rolled his eyes at her, even though she could see his tongue poking cheek as he tried to keep from chuckling.
"They can't believe you're an architect and get to design buildings worldwide, "Nate went on, "they think you are pretty awesome."
