CHAPTER 124: NEW CONFRONTATION
Jake ignored her and searched the entire compartment. "How long has this been here?" he wondered aloud.
"What about him?" Samantha pressed. "Why would your grandfather need a secret compartment in his home?"
Jake only shrugged.
"We should involve the authorities."
"Is that necessary?"
"What do you mean?" Samantha looked astounded
"Let's just pretend this wasn't here and clear it out."
"I can't believe you, Jake. Is there something you're not telling me?" Samantha asked again.
"What do you want me to say then? I know everything that happened in this house and from many years ago.
Samantha sighed. Somehow, she could feel there was more than what Jake told her. He was a lousy liar, but she couldn't force his hand.
"Very well then, I'll figure this out alone then. Just like I always do."
They stood straight from bending over to look at the letters together. Samantha felt a twinge of worry. There was something Jake knew that he wasn't sharing.
