Chapter 6

Naomi hadn't gone looking for him, yet he came back on his own. It seemed that Samuel must have pressured him. As Naomi hesitated for a moment, Jennifer happily said, "I just went upstairs to change the bedding and saw Mr. Ludwig taking his clothes to the bathroom. I guess he's not leaving tonight." Naomi self-deprecatingly thought to herself that when Brendan came back, even the maid looked happy for her, as if she was a neglected lover who had finally caught the king's eye. After changing her shoes, Naomi smiled and said, "Alright, I'll go upstairs." Naomi pushed open the bedroom door and found Brendan just coming out of the bathroom. Naomi smiled and said, "You're back! Wait for me. I'll go and take a shower first." Brendan looked at her disdainfully, "Naomi, can't you think of anything else?" Naomi laughed and replied, "Isn't it normal for me to take a shower when I get home? Besides, if I didn't have that thought when I see you, you'd probably be crying." Brendan was speechless. More than 40 minutes later, after Naomi finished her bath, she found Brendan lying on the bed. He was reading a book with his gold-rimmed glasses on. Naomi felt refreshed and walked over to him. She lifted her clothed leg and placed her right foot on his thigh. Brendan looked up at Naomi, but she pretended not to notice his gaze. She gently untied the belt of his robe. Brendan kept holding the book in his right hand. Then, he looked at Naomi without any expression and said firmly, "Get down." Naomi stopped her attempt to undress him and looked at him. "Brendan, are you impotent? If it's an issue, I can go with you to the hospital for a check-up." Brendan gave her a cold look. Naomi immediately said, "Don't want to talk about this, huh? Alright, alright, then let's discuss some other serious matters." Brendan put down his book and asked gently, "Have you thought it through? Are you agreeing to a divorce?" Naomi couldn't help but said, "Can't you think of something positive?" As she spoke, she moved her hips forward slightly. Brendan looked down as Naomi wrapped her arms around his neck. "About the legal representation of Ludwig Corporation, do you think we could..." Before Naomi could finish, Brendan interrupted her, "Don't even think about it." "Don't be like that!" Naomi continued, "What's the difference between hiring another law firm and hiring Solaris? We can negotiate the terms!" Brendan looked her over and smirked, "Negotiate how? With secret deals? Naomi, I wouldn't touch someone like you even if you paid me, let alone if I had to pay." Naomi was stunningly beautiful, the kind that could captivate your soul. Anyone who saw her would be dreaming about her all day and night. However, Brendan saw through her tricks the moment she walked in the door. He seemed indifferent and uninterested in her. Naomi put her hands on his shoulders and played with his earlobe. "How about this? I'll pay the agency fee, and you'll give me a child?" Brendan lifted his head and said, "So your son can inherit my fortune? You wish." They had been married for two years. Every time Naomi saw Brendan, she only talked about having kids. Brendan felt like he was just being used to make babies. Naomi laughed, "How do you know it will be a son? What if it's a daughter? Or I can write a promise that my son won't inherit your fortune!" Hearing this, Brendan was even more reluctant to agree. His face darkened as he said sternly, "Get down." Naomi's hands stayed on Brendan's shoulders. He looked at her coldly. She couldn't deny his good looks, though. His serious attitude made her want to kiss him. She wanted to conquer him. So, Naomi didn't get down. Instead, she held his face and leaned in to kiss him. Brendan's hands gripped her waist, trying to push her away. But as her soft tongue slipped in, his heart was stirred. He instinctively held her waist tighter. Eventually, he didn't push her away. The scent filled the air between their lips and teeth, creating a romantic atmosphere in the room. Her nightgown slipped off her shoulders, revealing her fair skin and ample bosom. She looked like a beautiful painting as she moved closer to him. All thoughts about work and scandals faded away. Nothing was more important than having a child. Just as Brendan's right hand moved up Naomi's back, his phone on the side suddenly rang. The vibration of the phone pulled Brendan back to reality. He let go of Naomi and turned to pick up the phone. Hearing Jason's voice on the other end, Brendan said, "Go and pick her up. I'll be there soon." As Brendan was about to leave, Naomi grabbed his arm, "Brendan, you're too mean!" Who would just leave halfway like this? It was too bloody mean! Brendan shook her off and said, "I was just playing along. Don't take it seriously." If Jason's call hadn't come just in time, he probably wouldn't have been able to hold back tonight. If Naomi had her way, it wouldn't just be falling into a pit, but into a deep well. Right after Brendan left, Naomi was really mad. She quickly called Bailey and set up to meet at a bar. Hearing Naomi say the opportunity slipped through her fingers, Bailey skeptically asked, "Even after all that, Brendan didn't go for it? Could he really be impotent?" Naomi replied, "Most likely, he's just trying to annoy me." Bailey said, "You're just looking to have some fun with him. If you really get divorced later, he won't need to take care of the child. I don't get what's on his mind. If I had a wife like you, I'd never let you get out of bed." Bailey's words were so cheeky. It was like she was a guy. The crazy part was that Bailey's tomboy style seemed to attract a lot of girls who were watching her. As they talked about these private things, Bailey was looking at her phone. Suddenly, her expression changed. She handed the phone to Naomi and said, "Naomi, your husband has really gone too far." Naomi took Bailey's phone. The next second, her face darkened as she looked at it. People usually shared bikes and power banks, but she was sharing her husband. It was one thing for Brendan to be out partying, but whenever he was with her, he gave her a cold look. Wasn't he being too disrespectful? Did he ever really treat her like his wife? Clink! Naomi put her glass upside down on the table and stood up to leave. Suddenly, she was blocked by a group of girls. "Hey! Isn't this Naomi Goodwin? You look so glum tonight. Are you trying to drown your sorrows?"
