Chapter 1689

In response to Caden's series of questions, Avery answered, "No one is pointing fingers at you. I called Mom two days ago to tell her that I had to go on a work trip to audit our branch office. "As an auditor, I have to travel for work. A colleague sent me home earlier. We were talking about work in the car." She was able to explain all that in a calm manner because she and Mason hadn't shared a kiss after getting out of the car. So, she had nothing to feel nervous about. If they had smooched one another like they did the previous times, she probably wouldn't be able to keep it a secret any longer. Hearing Avery say that she was discussing work in the car, Caden walked toward her. He lifted his hands and squeezed her face before observing her closely. It was as if he was trying to search for evidence to prove that she was dating someone. Caden's actions made Avery feel overwhelmed with diffidence. She pulled his hands away immediately and asked, "Are you disrespecting me now?"
