Their gazes met. Avery looked into Mason's eyes as she asked, "I shouldn't need to come back next week."
Mason chuckled when he heard that and asked in reply, "You're that confident? You think it'll work on the first try?"
Avery remained silent.

Avery was at a loss for words. She had a complicated expression.
Mason said, "Don't overthink it. Just let things happen naturally." He sounded like he was consoling his wife.
Mason's right hand still rested on her forehead. Avery reached out and held his wrist but didn't move his hand away. She said, "I'm worried about wasting your time and energy."
Her words made him laugh. He then pulled back the thin blanket covering her and sat down beside her on the bed.
