While holding onto her phone with her quivering right hand, Emily listened to hustle and bustle on the other end of the call. She only ended the call absentmindedly after quite a while. Perhaps they were just joking over some drinks. Perhaps her sadness was unnecessary. Nonetheless, she did become dispirited. She couldn't help but be reminded of the woman's crisp laughter. She would also think about how the woman mentioned that she would be working at the secretariat office. Cameron seemed to also be quite tolerant toward her. All of a sudden, Emily's thoughts were in a mess. She considered many things, but also denied many of those thoughts. Her head was in a whirl as she sat on the couch with her phone in her hands. She recalled many things from the past. She felt that she had ended up letting her guard down and letting herself waver. She waited until 9:30 pm. She lifted her head and glanced at the clock on the wall. Cameron hadn't returned or called to say what time he w
