Maxwell felt a mix of frustration and embarrassment as he heard his sister’s remark. It seemed absurd that he was so out of touch with their own family business. Unsure of how to respond, he remained silent, feeling out of his depth when it came to research. It wasn't entirely fair to blame him for his lack of knowledge.
“You can’t completely fault me for this, sis,” Maxwell said, attempting to defend himself. “I’m not into research, so it makes sense that I wouldn’t know all the details. You don’t always have to assume the worst about me, okay?”
Emma gave him a pointed look. “I think I’m being quite reasonable. If it wasn’t you calling, I might’ve thought we had a spy in the company. Only someone with ill intentions would say what you said. The fact that you’re still here and not being questioned shows I believe you.”
