403: Apology Accepted?
Bauer stood awkwardly as Emma inspected the gifts, the brightly colored dress in her hands catching the last rays of the setting sun, making it shimmer. He had thought she would like it based on a passing comment she had made months ago, but now seeing her reaction, he wondered if he had misjudged her taste.
"Do you think these things suit me?" Emma asked, holding up the dress with a raised eyebrow. "When have I ever worn a dress in this color?"
Bauer rubbed the back of his neck, feeling a flush of embarrassment. "I remember you mentioned once how you liked vibrant colors in the spring. I thought... maybe you’d enjoy something different. But I see now it might have been too much."
Emma’s expression softened as she laid the dress back into the trunk, her gaze sweeping over the other items. "It’s the thought that counts, Bauer. I appreciate that you remembered even the little things I mentioned. That means a lot."
