The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow throughout the kitchen where Emma and her brothers gathered for their routine breakfast. The unusual brightness of Emma’s smile caught everyone’s attention, sparking a wave of curiosity among her brothers.
Wayne leaned back in his chair, eyeing Emma with a mix of amusement and suspicion. "You’re unusually cheerful this morning, Emma. Something good must’ve happened, right? Come on, you can tell us. We're all ears here."
Emma, stirring her coffee nonchalantly, couldn’t hide her amusement at their prying. "It’s really nothing big. Just a nice start to the day. You know, a good morning message can set the right tone," she said, her smile broadening.
Maxwell, not satisfied with her vague response, pressed further, his brows furrowed. "Come on, Emma. We’ve never seen you this happy about a 'good morning' text. It has to be more than that. Was it from Bauer? Did he send you some poetic nonsense again this morning?"
