In the quiet of his office, Alex brooded over the revelations of the day. Turning to Collins, he asked, "Did Emma really do so much for me?"
Collins hesitated, caught off guard by the question. "She managed a lot, sir. Mostly through indirect means, like informing me about your meals and medications."
Alex's frustration was evident. "Why wasn't I told about this?"
Collins, feeling unjustly blamed, explained, "I tried, sir. But you always stopped me at the mention of her name."
Alex fell silent, realizing his own role in overlooking Emma's efforts.
Later, as Alex and Collins walked past a group of employees, they overheard them discussing Emma. "We haven't seen her lately. She always looked out for the boss," one employee said wistfully.
