Chapter 86 The Accident
In a brief moment of distraction, Clara seized the opportunity to slip away.
"Mr. Garcia, stop being such a nuisance, following me around like a shadow," she said without looking back.
By the time he regained his senses, Clara had already vanished, leaving only her grumbling complaint echoing in Matthew's ears.
'What a self-romanticizing woman. Why would I like her?' he wondered.
Matthew watched Clara's receding figure, a wave of discomfort surging in his heart.
Yet, he found himself involuntarily moving his legs, chasing after her.
Suddenly, a buzzing sound emerged, followed by the blaring of an alarm.
Matthew received a call from David. There was a fire at the cocktail party that had triggered the alarm, and a group of people armed with weapons had broken in from an unknown direction.
"Be careful!" Matthew said, dropping the phone and rushing forward to tackle Clara to the ground.
But the chaotically collapsing lamp rack fell heavily on Matthew.
