Amidst the chaos of voices, the scene was in utter disarray.
The vendor, however, was not about to let such a rare opportunity slip by.
He shouted over the crowd, "Hey, folks, come on over! Check out these premium gems. Buying one is like hitting the jackpot!"
Matthew picked up a stone and turned it around in his hands.
Apart from a few cracks, it looked unremarkable.
"Buy that piece for the lady! You're her husband. Be gentleman, okay? Bullying her isn't right!" A man's voice called out from the noisy crowd, though it was impossible to pinpoint who exactly said it.
After that, many voices joined in, agreeing with him. "You come out to enjoy some stone shopping, and you end up arguing so badly you might even get divorced."
The man holding his own stone looked around, weary from the idle chatter.
He shook his head in resignation and said, "Forget it, just paying a bit more. Sir, I'll take both stones."
"Alright then," the owner smiled, "that'll be 22 thousand dollars."
