Chapter 4 Leave Me

“Leave me,” She spoke while realizing the situation. As she was pulling herself away from Alexander, his hand was resting on her back. Then he applied gentle pressure and pulled her closer. “Learn to walk,” he whispered in her ears and instantly left her. Scarlett was shocked by his cold and ghastly behavior. But at that moment she cared less. "Lucas take care," Alexander ordered and then went away. Meanwhile, Scarlett's heart accelerated with the highest speed as she turned around towards her grandmother's room but Lucas stopped her. "Not now," he whispered in a lower tone. His eyes were fixed on the corner of the corridor. "Mr. Wilson is here." Before she could react, Adrian, her manager, arrived. His face was pale and his hands were sweating. Beads of sweat covered his forehead as if he had seen a ghost. "Adrian, what happened?" She took a step in his direction. He took his handkerchief out and wiped the sweat. His voice trembled. "Mr. Wilson..." He paused and then continued, "This time he gave me orders himself. He had never done that before." Scarlett knitted her eyebrows together, and asked in confusion, "What orders?" "To keep you away from the journalists," Adrian revealed, glancing towards the end of the corridor where Alexander was talking to the team of doctors. "Your presence with him could fuel rumors. The sudden uproar could ruin your new movie project, Scarlett. Wilson Entertainment is investing so much in you." Scarlett lowered her eyes. She knew that stakes were high but that was her grandmother. "I won't take much time," Scarlett muttered. For a moment Lucas gave it a thought but Adrian shook his head vigorously, "No Scarlett. Mr. Wilson doesn't care about anyone getting in his way. If he wants something, he makes sure that it happens, no matter the cost." She took a deep breath and sighed. "And what exactly does he want?" "To keep you out of the limelight," Adrian's voice was almost inaudible. "He is worried about the rumors." After listening to those words, she lost control over her emotions. "He doesn't care about rumors. He doesn't care about anything except telling everyone that we are under his control." Adrian just opened his mouth but stopped. As Alexander strode over. His presence was dominating. The journalists who had been lingering instantly turned their cameras towards them. "What's happening here?" He growled. Scarlett looked up and gathered her courage to speak, "I'm not going anywhere without meeting my grandma." There was no change in Alexander's facial expression. "And I want you to stay out of this place. " Her eyes were blazing with fire. "I signed the professional contract with your company, not my life. See the difference, Mr. Wilson." The next moment, Alexander took a step forward and said in a dangerously low tone, "Come again." "You can't control everything." Scarlett closed her eyes in frustration. "I control what I need to control, Scarlett. If you ruin this project with your reckless behavior then don't blame me for the consequences." The way he said, 'consequences', Scarlett got nervous. "You can't scare me," she whispered. Alexander looked at her with dark amusement. "Is that so? We will see about that." Adrian stepped forward and nervously said, "Mr. Wilson, she is just worried about her grandmother." Alexander didn't even spare a single glance at him. "You are her manager, Adrian. To manage her." Scarlett clenched her fist, her nails were digging into her soft skin. She never felt so helpless in her life before. But before she could say anything, the doors of her grandmother's ward opened and the doctor walked out. "Ms. Scarlett," he said, turning his head in her direction. "The lady inside is asking for you." Just because of the fact, nobody knew that she was the legal heir of the Johansson family, not Camilla. Scarlett's eyes were already looking at Alexander. She was pleading. "Two minutes," he said sternly, "Then you will leave, understand?" For just a brief moment, his eyes flickered with a different emotion but it was quickly replaced by his icy demeanor. Scarlett nodded her head in agreement. Then she instantly rushed inside the ward, where her grandmother was lying. Her grandmother was looking fragile, and weak but Scarlett managed to put a smile on her face. "Scarlett," she finally called out her name. Then her trembling hand moved in her direction. Scarlett took it, taking her hand. "Grandma, I'm here." Meanwhile, Alexander was witnessing the whole scene. Adrian and Lucas moved beside him and exchanged worried glances. "She is risking everything," Adrian said in a low tone. Lucas sighed. "She loves her family a lot." Alexander's gaze was still fixed on Scarlett. He didn't care about the project, rumors or anything else. All he cared about was his control and Scarlett was slipping out of it. Inside the room "Scarlett, I want you to attend the Johansson Annual Party," her grandma managed to speak. "Grandma, you know that I can't," Scarlett lowered her eyes. Tears were falling from her eyes. Since her mother's demise, she was never welcomed in Johansson's family. Camilla, her step-sister, was the apple of her father's eye. For Camilla, Mark was always a perfect father. "I know, but there's something very important for you. To know what it is, you've to attend the party," Grandma said in a weak tone. "I don't have an invitation, " Scarlett told her. "I'll send them to you. Dress up nicely and attend the party." Before they could exchange more words, Alexander knocked on the door, signaling towards his watch. "Who is it?" Her grandma asked her. Scarlett swallowed her breath and instantly replied, "Nurse, the meeting time is over. I'll come and meet you again. Till then rest and get well soon, Grandma." Then she kissed her forehead and moved out without looking back. When Scarlett moved out, her eyes were red and had a straight expression. "Time is up," Alexander said coldly, "Let's go." Scarlett didn't respond. She simply walked past him and moved towards Adrian. Alexander saw her retreating figure. His jaw tightened. Undoubtedly he underestimated her and now he wouldn't repeat his mistake. Afterwards, Scarlett exited the hospital, covering her face with the same scarf which she was wearing a few minutes ago. But the flash of cameras blurred her vision. Journalists bombarded her with questions. "Why are you here?" "Is Mr. Alexander with you?" "What's going on in between you two?" Before she could respond, Alexander graced them with his sudden appearance. His cold gaze turned towards everyone standing there. "This is a private matter." His voice was dismissive. He moved to stand between Scarlett and the cameras. It was a protective shield. Scarlett glanced at him. Her eyes held fear. She knew that she wasn't going to like what was coming her way. "Respect our privacy. Any further questions will be legally dealt with." In no time, everyone went away. Seeing that, Scarlett breathed a sigh of relief. The next moment, Alexander turned and mumbled, "Adrian, I will drop her off. You go back." Scarlett's eyes widened. Fear surged through her mind. "No! I will go with Adrian," she protested. "Scarlett Anderson, in my car right now."
