Chapter 933
Mateo took a deep breath and reached for the car door, but a hand slammed down on it.
He saw the face through the window and nearly collapsed in shock, his body leaning against the car just to stay upright.
It was Harold Sibbett, Mateo's father.
"Where do you think you're going, you little brat?" Harold's voice was low and sharp, filled with authority.
"I... I'm not running..." Mateo stammered, still facing away, too terrified to turn around.
"You ungrateful bastard," Harold cursed. "You always run when you see me. If I catch you again, I'll break your legs."
Mateo stayed silent, sweat dripping down his face.
"I went to the military to find you. Why weren't you there?" Harold demanded, yanking on Mateo's shirt. "You think I can't do something about you?"
Mateo remained silent, shaking.
"This city seems pretty good, better than where we're from," Harold continued. "I've decided to settle here. You're going to keep me company and not ignore me, right?"
