Bethany roamed, her mind adrift. She couldn't shake the feeling that Mateo's words had triggered something. Thoughts of Trystan kept resurfacing. The memories only brought her more sorrow.
She soon felt the urge to leave, as being there didn't evoke any sense of connection to Mateo. This place wasn't their secret haven.
"Beth?" Suddenly someone called out to her.
She turned around to see one of the men who had welcomed her earlier, but she couldn't recall his name. "You are..."
"Timothy Adair," he said with a sheepish grin as he approached her, looking slightly disappointed. "You don't remember me at all, do you?"
"Sorry about that," Bethany replied with a gentle smile.
"No worries. I never thought I'd see you again." He gazed at her intently, adding, "And you look much better now."
This man knew about her past too.
