"Where's your mother?" Trystan asked again. Kelly looked up at Megan nervously, then lowered her head again. "I don't know. Mom left." Megan's heart leaped into her mouth as she frantically clutched Kelly's arm. "Trys, I'm glad you're on board with this." Trystan thought for a moment before responding. "We'll find a better place for her to stay later." Megan nodded, feeling a sense of relief. "Good." Then, she asked, "By the way, did you finally obtain the divorce papers from Bethany?" She'd merely asked out of curiosity. Given how long this had been pending, it was a fair question, but Trystan remained silent. Megan's anger flared up. "Did you not get them again?" As she spoke, she tightened her grip on Kelly's arm, causing the girl to cry out in pain. "Ouch! Mom, you're hurting me..." Megan's heart sank as she realized what Kelly had called her. Trystan's eyes narrowed. "What did she just call you?" "Huh?" Megan tried to play it cool, crouching down and glaring at Kelly.
