Bethany didn't want Kelly to be another Megan. That thought alone terrified her. Kelly was clearly scared, shrinking back as her eyes reddened slightly. "Crying won't help. I'll ask you one more time. Who gave me that teddy bear?" Bethany insisted. "If you lie again, I won't talk to you anymore." Kelly burst into tears immediately. She didn't understand what was happening or why Bethany was so angry. Her mom had said that if Bethany thought the teddy bear was from Kelly, she'd be happier. But now, it seemed that wasn't the case. Kelly's crying drew Ivan's attention. He opened the door and lifted her into his arms, giving Bethany a slightly unhappy look. "What happened? Why is she crying?" "Did you teach her to lie?" Bethany said, her expression still harsh. "Are you trying to make her into a liar? Someone who's despised just like you?" Ivan was stunned. He hadn't expected Bethany to lash out so suddenly. Feeling humiliated, he grew angry and unconsciously tightened his grip on
