Chapter 1135
Unexpectedly, Sawyer turned Bethany down. "No, it's getting late. You should get some rest. I'll head home now."
After stepping out of the car, Bethany watched as Sawyer drove away.
Jenny emerged from Lawson Residence, clearly drawn out by the sound of the engine. As she watched the car disappear into the distance, something about it felt familiar.
"Who brought you home?" she asked.
Bethany turned to her. "Uncle Sawyer. I wanted to invite him in for a bit, but he refused."
"Oh." A flicker of disappointment crossed Jenny's eyes, but she quickly forced a smile. "He was just dropping you off. Of course, he'd leave once he did."
She was suggesting that Sawyer had no intention of seeing her.
"Jen…" Bethany murmured.
He hadn't said much, but she couldn't shake the feeling that he still had feelings for Jenny.
"It's late. Go freshen up and get some sleep," Jenny mentioned, clearly having no interest in continuing the conversation.
