Bethany's gaze flickered. She felt like she could barely breathe under Trystan's stare, anxiously waiting for him to speak.
His voice was calm. "The annual child support for Asher and Elysia is one million dollars. Does that sound acceptable to you, Ms. Reyes?"
Bethany clenched her fists so tightly that she trembled. Trystan either didn't notice or simply didn't care.
His tone remained cool and businesslike. "Don't get the wrong idea, Ms. Reyes. We were married, after all. A million dollars means nothing to the Lawsons. If you'd rather, we can make it two."
She nearly lost her footing.
Trystan paused before continuing, "But I need you to sign a guarantee. Once you accept this money, you and the children will never appear before the Lawsons again. Do you understand?"
Bethany's legs buckled, and she collapsed onto the floor. Disbelief washed over her as she stared at Trystan. Had Asher, Elysia, and even she become nothing more than strangers to him?
