CHAPTER 14: POWER PLAY
Victoria's eyes popped open when she observed the familiarity between Chief Thomas and Patrick. "Chief, I understand Mr. Muller is a friend. But you should still follow the rules. We need to find Margaret first. If we can't, then Miss Amelia should be detained. Her alibi is not credible." She said as she trailed the police chief to his office. She was strolling in before he could jam the door in her face.
The office had a nice interior; books were piled on almost every corner of the room. A picture of the prime minister shaking hands with Queen Elizabeth hung on the wall directly above his large wooden seat.
He heaved himself on his chair. I was staring at one of the portraits on the wall. The portrait looked precisely like himself except for the absence of a round tummy. "She will be released on bail," The police chief said with a smirk. "Miss Victoria, here. I am the rule. I say and do as I please. Do you understand?"
