CHAPTER 146: A TESTAMENT

Victoria immersed herself in the lab for two days, closely observing Sophie. And whenever they retired to their temporary quarters to rest for the night, she would follow closely, keeping her in sight. She maneuvered into sharing a dormitory with Sophie and another female researcher to maintain constant vigilance. The dorm they shared initially was meant for two persons, but after Victoria moved in, one bed had to be turned into a double bed, so Sophie and Victoria had to share. "I'm so exhausted!" the female biologist, Susan, whined as she fell onto the bed, "I think I should quit." Victoria chuckled softly, slid off her flats, undid her scarf, and ran her fingers through her curls. "Could you postpone your resignation for a while?" she muttered. "Because you asked so nicely, Yes." Victoria laughed, and they both fell silent when Sophie left the bathroom.　 "I need to go out for a bit," she announced, already headed for the door. "I'll go with you," Victoria called after her,
