Alex sat down next to Jack on the backyard bench, taking a deep breath of the fresh air. "So, Jack, tell me about yourself," he said, his eyes warm with curiosity.
Jack shrugged, fidgeting with his hands. "Not much to tell, Dad. I work at a cafe, trying to make ends meet. I like writing in my free time."
Alex nodded, his expression thoughtful. "Writing, huh? I didn't know that. What kind of writing do you enjoy?"
Jack hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "Just stuff, you know? Short stories, poetry... nothing too serious."
Alex smiled. "I'd love to read some of your work sometime. Maybe I can even offer some feedback."
Jack's eyes widened in surprise. "Really? You'd want to read my stuff?"
"Of course, son," Alex said, his voice filled with warmth. "I want to know everything about you. What makes you tick, what you're passionate about... everything."
They sat in silence for a moment, watching the sun set behind the trees. Then Alex spoke up again.
