Mom in Danger
Quianna's POV
After Austin left, I think about all the things he said to me. Should I really need to leave the company for good? Do I have I focus on investigating my father's case? When should I tell of this to Dylan? I know I should trust my best friend but there's something about him that kept on telling me not to spill every detail that Austin and I have. I felt somewhat bored as I stare at the four-cornered white walls of this hospital room. I stood up and pull the dextrose stand with me as I walked through the hallways, it was a night of quiet and chilling place for me, this is the reason why I hate hospitals, I hate places that have no person in it, I hate to be alone.
I continued walking and I reached the end of the side of the hospital where the rest place was located. It is a huge place enough for people who are visiting their loved ones in this floor, it also has tables and chairs used mainly by the doctors and nurses who are staying all night just to attend their patients. And this place is perfect for people like me who can't sleep easily at night. I looked at the dark sky and as usual there were stars shining on it. I looked down and I saw the huge city lights, the busy streets because of many pedestrians and even the buildings who are still operating at this hour. I sat down and continue looking from afar, I realized that I haven't rest that much, compared to other people, I think.
"What are you doing here?" I looked at the person who talked to me and it's Dylan. I smiled at him and continue looking at the bright lights in front of me.
"I thought you already went home." I said to him and noticed that he also sat beside me.
"I was on my way home. I also called Aina to go here." He said and I looked at him.
"Why did you have to call her? I am fine." I said to him.
"But I don't think I should let you alone." He answered to me.
"Going somewhere?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Being busy with work, I don't think I can see you always." He coldly said.
"What are you talking about?" I just asked.
"Quianna! Are you okay?" we both looked of who yelled my name and of course, it's Aina.
"Hey, I am okay. You don't have to cry." I said to her as she started sobbing upon seeing me.
"But I am so worried about you! How could you be in a car accident, you said you can't now drive." She said to me but what?
"What are you talking about?" I suddenly asked her.
"What?" she asked and looked at me innocently.
"You said I can't drive." I repeated.
"Yes, you told me that you had trauma with it." she answered.
"That's impossible, I am still driving." I said and long silence came between us three.
"Of course, you are. What am I saying?" she suddenly said and remove her arms from embracing me.
"Is there something wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing." She just answered but something is odd on her.
"Now that Aina is here, I think I should now go." Dylan said to us.
"Alright, don't worry about her. I can take care of her." Aina said and smiled to him widely.
"Wait, we're not yet done talking." I said to him.
"We can continue next time." He just said and waved his hand for a goodbye.
Am I the only one who kept on noticing something different with them? I can pinpoint what are those, but I am pretty sure that there's something that we can explain explicitly.
"Let's go back to your room now." Aina said. I just nodded and pull the dextrose stand near me. she holds is and guide me while walking.
We entered the room without any of us talking or asking what happened to me. I immediately lied down, and I heard Aina putting the things she bought for me on the table and fixing others inside the refrigerator.
"Aina…" I called her and she just answered with a single sound.
"Do you believe in parallel universe?" I suddenly asked and heard that she stopped stacking things.
"What are you saying out of the blue?" she plainly answered.
"Nothing, I just became curious about it." I just said to her.
"But we have one saying whenever we were performing autopsy to people we know." She said and I just looked at her.
"We just prayed that if this happened in another world, we would not the one who will perform the procedures." She continued and sat beside me.
"That if we are from another world, we would not know how our friends, parents or even relatives died. We would not the one who will open their bodies." she explained.
"Yeah, that was harsh to think that you actually perform the autopsy of your sister." I said to her, and she just smiled.
"I know right, but because of that I became stronger." She said.
"I told you my father's corpse is missing, right? I don't know if I should hope that maybe dad is alive somewhere or should I hope that his corpse is not decomposing anywhere." I said to her.
"You can find him, and anything is good, as long as you found him." She answered.
"Right! What really happened to you? How did you got into a car accident?" she suddenly asked.
"Actually, I really don't know, I just saw myself bleeding." I answered and smiled at her awkwardly.
"I think you are born to be in hospital, not to be a professional but to be a patient." She sarcastically said and I just laughed at her.
"Maybe I should start working in this hospital." I jokingly said to her.
"Really? That will be your best decision in your whole life!" she exclaimed, and I just glared at her.
"But kidding aside, I think you should start having interest now that your father's dead." She seriously said.
"That's what he said to me, also." I whispered.
"What?"
"Nothing." I just replied and turned around from her.
The next day…
I woke up early that I've ever done. I saw Aina still sleeping on the couch, and I should not let her wake up, so I fix myself quietly as possible. I bathe and wear new clothes as we need to start investigating now. I don't have time to lie down in this room anymore and of course I should not let Aina know it or else she will throw a fit.
*Phone vibrates*
"Your mother is in danger." The message said. Without questioning and details, immediately call mom but no one is answering even how many times I tried to call her, there's no luck. Should I call Aina? But she would definitely think I am crazy, believing in some messages that maybe spouting nonsense. Should I try to call Dylan? Alright, I know he will help me.
"Hello?" he immediately answers, sounding husky. I think he's still sleeping when I called him.
"Dylan, where are you?" I asked upon he answered.
"You see, I have a flight last night right after I see you." He answered and I stopped walking.
"What? Why did you not tell me?" I asked him.
"There's nothing much to tell. But what is wrong?" he asked.
"I think mom is in danger, someone texted me and I kept on calling mom, she's not answering." I explained to him.
"Text again? Don't hysterical that much, maybe your mom is still sleeping at this early hour." He answered.
"No, I don't think so." I kept on saying to him.
"Take a breath, think first. Should I come back?" he offered.
"No, it's okay. I'll just call you back." I just said and ended the call. I guess I have no choice but to call Austin. I ride my car and start heading to our house.
"Hello?" he immediately answers.
"I got a text message." I said directly.
"What does it say?" I heard that he was shocked judging on how his voice is.
"My mom is in danger so please come with the address I'll be sending to you." I desperately said.
"Alright. I'll be on my way." He said then ended the call. I immediately texted him the address.
Mom, please be okay. I don't care if I may sound crazy but please be safe. I can accept all words of believing to that message but it's not the first time. I am witnessing it numerous times and every time I received one, something odd really happens, something that can't be explain by words or by human mind. You should be crazy to believe in this whole madness, and I am one. I should save mom; I would not let any people around me got hurt just because of these playful pranks or jokes someone is sending me. I am done being a pushover and ignorant, I think it's now the time to be a true witness.
