Chapter 11: Frail Body
As Alison trembled in fear, expecting the worst, Oliver didn’t squeeze her throat as she thought. Instead, he grabbed her chin, forcing her to look up and meet his eyes.
Coldly, he said, "What did you ask earlier? What do I want from you? Think carefully—what could you possibly have that I would desire? The moment you plotted against me, you should’ve known I wouldn’t let you off so easily."
Alison was numb to his words, too drained to offer any retort. She knew that no matter what she said, Oliver wouldn’t believe her. In his eyes, she was nothing but scheming and malicious. Whether she spoke up or stayed silent, it would change nothing.
Feeling utterly powerless, Alison was overwhelmed by the sense that no matter what choice she made, fate would drag her back to the same tragic ending as before. It filled her with despair. She had fought hard to get this second chance and wanted to avoid the misery of her past life at all costs. But it seemed she was still bound to her fate.
