Chapter 111: Confusion in Memory
Alison’s journey to the kitchen was slow and painful. What used to be a five or six-minute walk now took over half an hour. Finally, she arrived. She glanced at the row of freezers filled with rare, luxurious ingredients but quickly turned away and found a single egg in the corner.
Just as she was about to cook the egg, a crackling sound filled the air.
Suddenly, everything went dark.
The sound of a door slamming shut echoed in her ears.
"I don’t want to talk about this anymore," a voice said angrily. "I’m just telling you—since you can’t take care of the child, the nanny will handle it."
"Oliver, please, don’t do this! Don’t take Natalia away from me. She needs to stay with me!" another voice, full of desperation, pleaded.
"If you know a child needs their mother, then why did you do something so terrible? Does hurting other people’s children make you feel better?" Oliver’s voice was cold and unforgiving.
