Chapter 3 And the game begins

Oscar smiled as though her words meant nothing. He took hold of the Martel and held it to himself, having feared at first that the bottle might serve as weapon to her in the height of her rage. “You can go to hell and burn, remember.” He meant to provoke her the more, but she said nothing. She merely made for the door, but his phone banged on the bed drawer. She stopped and turned to hear him answer his disgusting calls which she knew so far, he answers just to annoy her the best ways he could, and most times, his calls at home usually comes from his actor mistress, Lana. Lana is Russian; a Russian actress who have for long been the big trouble in Oscar’s marriage. He is so obsessed with her that sometimes he gets erect when he sets eyes on her in the screen of their television, even while in bed with his estranged wife, Mariama. He grabbed the phone and clicked in, then, he gently moved it to his ear, not minding the fact that his wife who had just signed the divorce paper was still standing at the door, and the maid, Lizabeth was standing at the far end of the room, being witness to the unfolding mess of their marriage. “Hello, darling Lana.” He said with the best of his loving voice, intending to make Mariama sulk. “I checked in at the bar today, but I could not find you. We were supposed to meet today but you were away.” He paused to let the so-called Lana speak her piece, then he continued. He did not place the conversation on speak out because though he wanted to vex Mariama in every way possible, he still considers the safety of his sin mate. “Oh, I see.” He said with a broad smile. “But I can’t come to your place, and you know what, I already kicked that sick in the head woman out of my life. She signed the damn divorce papers.” Mariama felt the urge to barge in on him, grab his phone from him and smash it on the wall, but she held her rage. She had been in this hell of a marriage for three good years, but all the while she was with him, she was totally without her past, her memories, until her head banged on the edge of the table. “Don’t worry, I will check in at your place tonight, pick you up and bring you to my mansion, so we can make love and have a great night.” he added to the shit he said earlier. Mariama returned to the room. Her eyes red with rage. She had merely signed the paper earlier to put up a little drama, but now, she is very much aware that he meant everything he said to her, every single abuse, every single emotional torture. “I see you really mean this madness, but mind you, I won’t just let you scowl away without losing a pound of flesh.” She ranted. He scuffed and dropped the bottle of Martel on the floor. It busted on the floor and littered the floor with liquid and glasses, sharp blooding yearning glasses. “You have no place to go, that’s why you are still here. If you have a place to go, you could have left this place already.” He said the bossy he way. Mariama smiled and turned to the maid waiting for them to settle their madness in whatever way best to them. she is only but a poor matured lady who can’t even exist any longer in this hell of a mansion with the mad billionaire, Oscar. She turned to Oscar who was waiting to hear her speak the worse she has in mind. “You know, I can’t leave you empty handed, Oscar, I promise. I must leave with a pound of your flesh.” She made to the maid, Lizabeth. “You must come with me right away.” She said a bit loud. “You can’t continue with him.” Oscar laughed and jammed his palms. “You are not taking her to anywhere.” He said but did not cross the boundary he made with the broken Martel bottle on the floor. “You clearly have nowhere to take her to.” Lizabeth looked Mariama in the face. Of course, Mariama was right. She shouldn’t remain in the mansion, but where on earth will she go with Mariama who clearly has nothing and knows no influential person who can be of help. “Don’t mind him.” Said Mariama. “I have a safe haven for you. It’s time to leave this hell of a place.” Lizabeth turned to Oscar who was waiting for her to make her decision with a wry smile on his wicked face. She swallowed. Leaving Oscar means starting all afresh, because she has been at his place for a long time, and he is her reserved means of solving her financial problems. “I have nowhere to go, Mariama.” She confessed without choice, causing her master, Oscar to bust into barbaric laughter. “I have a place for you, trust me.” Said Mariama. “Let’s leave this monster, he won’t do you any good.” Lizabeth bowed her head in thoughts. She loves Mariama, but Mariama had been into a serious amnesia from the very first day she was brought into the mansion by her boss, Oscar, and later married off by Oscar. She can’t possibly have a future for her in anyway. “Mariama, I think you two should think about this.” She held Mariama’s face. “You need to tear that paper and tell him you aren’t signing up for divorce. We clearly have nowhere to go.” Oscar laughed and once again clapped his hands. “Good speech old woman, but you have to throw her out of my house this time, or I summon the guards to throw the both of you out in the streets.” Oscar said with summoned pride. Lizabeth looked Mariama in the eyes with so much pity. She seemed to have been bought over with that threat. For heaven’s sake, a sane woman would not follow an empty amnesia patient into the streets when she can remain a slave in the mansion and at least have a life to live. “And mind you, she can’t pay the bills for your son in the hospital, neither can she afford a dime for your husband who is rotting in jail. She can’t fund a lawyer, neither can she help with your daughter who struggling in school.” He skipped the broken bottles on the floor and came close to Mariama and Lizabeth. “You have the chance to make things right for daring to barge into my room to revive this wretch.” He breathed wickedly. “Grab her hand and toss her out of this mansion, in that way, you and your family will not suffer from chronic lack of funds.” Lizabeth took a deep breath and turned to Mariama; her eyes fixed in her face. Mariama looked back at her, waiting to hear her speak her mind, though she had been threatened really bad with the condition of her family. “Mariama.” She whispered in tears. “He is right. My husband is in jail. My daughter is struggling in school and my son is in the hospital, but I’m getting the fuck out of here with you.”
