Ana turned to Mariama, her face pale with shock. "I don't understand. How could they ignore all the evidence?"
Manga, his voice tight with anger, muttered, "Money talks. Agamemnon probably got to them somehow."
Rogan placed a comforting hand on Mariama's shoulder. "We did everything we could. It just wasn't enough."
Mariama barely heard them. Her eyes were fixed on Agamemnon as he shook hands with his lawyers, accepting congratulations from supporters. He caught her gaze and raised an eyebrow, his expression a mixture of triumph and mockery.
In that moment, Mariama felt something inside her shift. The shock and despair were still there, but beneath them, a new emotion was taking root – a cold, hard determination. This wasn't over. Not by a long shot.
