Chapter 5
"Luca Hodge goes up against Xavier Wright, an underclassman, for his girlfriend! Xavier is nothing but a jerk who hits women!"
I can't help but frown when I see this. There was a chance Luca had paid some trolls to write these things. I couldn't help sneering at the thought of Stacy learning of his "heroic" deeds upon seeing the forum. It was such a waste of time.
The forum had been in an uproar when Luca had gotten that female student pregnant; I supposed he knew his way around controlling the rumors on the forum now. It was too bad Stacy would never open her eyes to these things.
…
The following day, I got ready to leave campus again. My company had just been established, and I'd made appointments with some scriptwriters to discuss their scripts.
But just as I got into the car and started it, I saw Luca pass by with a couple of friends. I could hear their voices even through the window.
"Heh, I don't have to worry about money for the rest of my life now that I've won that trust fund baby over."
"Life's looking good for you, Luca. You can have your cake and eat it."
"Don't give me that shit. I'm going to meet my girlfriend later; remember to cover up for me."
The men snickered at his words. "Which girlfriend are you going to see this time? The one with the melons, or…"
They made obscene gestures. Luca laughed and said, "The one who has the most tricks up her sleeve and is the wildest in bed, of course!"
I shook my head as they walked away.
…
I drove to my new company. It was already the afternoon by the time I finished what I needed to do. It had only taken me a day to select the scripts that could be turned into productions. The scriptwriters would make the final edits before filming commenced.
On my way back to university, I saw a familiar face again—it was Luca. He had his arm around a busty woman as they came out from Joyview Grand Hotel.
"I'll miss you, Luca. Are you going back to campus to hang out with that silly little thing?"
Luca pinched her face. "I'm only with her for her money. You're the only one I like."
I was disgusted by the sight. Still, I supposed it was normal. This wasn't my first time witnessing Luca in his element.
As the light turned green, I sped off toward campus. When I got back to my dorm, my phone rang. Again, it was a call from Cindy.
I answered it, snapping impatiently, "What do you want now? You don't realize how annoying you are, do you?"
Cindy screeched, "You're not even worthy of being called a man, Xavier. You like Stacy, yet you don't even have the nerve to fight for her! You're a coward!"
She didn't give me the chance to say anything as she continued, "How long more are you going to hide in your shell? Stacy's already gone to a hotel with that asshole today! They were at Joyview Grand Hotel! Are you going to just stand by and watch as things play out?"
I wasn't surprised by her screaming. "Oh. What does that have to do with me? And let me correct you on something—I don't like Stacy."
"Yeah, right!" Cindy retorted. "Why would you have taken such good care of her over the years if not for you having feelings for her? Is something wrong with you?"
"You're not wrong. There was something wrong with me in the past, but I'm fine now," I said coolly. "Have you said enough? I'm gonna hang up now."
"Coward! You're a coward!" Cindy screamed. "Do you know what an asshole Luca is?"
"I already told you that it has nothing to do with me." I hung up without another word.
My phone started vibrating almost immediately—Cindy was calling me again. I put the phone on silent mode.
