Makayla held her breath. She had heard about the chaos in the entertainment industry.
But seeing seven or eight men each surrounded by two or three women, with the neon lights casting an eerie glow and the air thick with smoke and alcohol, she felt a wave of nausea.
"Makayla, right?" Conor squinted. "Come sit here." He patted the spot next to him, and the woman who had been sitting there got up and left.
Makayla didn't want to go.
"Ms. Lawson, I need to leave... I have scenes to shoot tomorrow morning and can't stay out late."
She tried to leave, but Lauren pushed her toward Conor.
"Mr. Webster, Makayla is very career-focused, just like me. She's still thinking about her roles even after work."
Her words had a hidden meaning.
