Chapter 1

Stacy Greene's family and mine had always been on good terms, so our families had promised us to each other since we were children. Despite being my fiancée, she ended up falling in love with a young man infamous in university for being a scumbag. To keep her from being tricked and harmed, I used my connections to have her transferred to another university. However, prior to our graduation, a truck hurtled toward me under her orchestration. She looked down at me condescendingly. "What right did anyone have to decide who I'd marry in the future while I was still a child? If not for you, I would've found my true love long ago!" When I opened my eyes, I realized I was back in university. The scumbag stood before me, looking like a rascal as he asked, "Are you Stacy's fiancé?" I shook my head. "No, I'm not." … As the bright lights shot at me, I raised an arm to shield my eyes. Have I… Have I been reborn? A roguish-looking man stood before me. "I heard you're Stacy's fiancé." I looked at the familiar face and sneered to myself. "No, I'm not. It's just a rumor everyone's been spreading." "Oh." He said coolly, "Stacy's mine from now on, then. I don't care what went on between you and her in the past; you'd better stay away from her in the future." I couldn't help rolling my eyes at his threat. "Go ahead, man." The man turned and left, seemingly thinking he looked cool. I watched him. The man's name was Luca Hodge, and he was infamous in university for being a scumbag. He was a year older than Stacy and I, and rumor had it he'd gotten someone pregnant as soon as he'd gotten into university. He'd almost been expelled at the time, but it hadn't happened because the young woman had insisted that she didn't blame him. Luca hadn't been punished for his actions, but word of what had happened had spread like wildfire. Ultimately, the young woman dropped out of university due to the pregnancy. Meanwhile, he'd continued with his obnoxious attitude and had gone around pursuing other women. Stacy was one of his targets. In my past life, I'd tried my best to stop them from getting together, yet all I'd gotten in return was Stacy's resentment and revenge. And prior to my death, she'd gotten back together with Luca. "What the hell are you doing? How could you say something so irresponsible?" A shrill voice rang out from beside me. I looked up to see Cindy Whitfield, Stacy's best friend. "Are you going to just let that asshole go after Stacy?" I glanced at her. "Does Stacy look like she's unwilling?" "That's beside the point. Whether or not she's willing, you can't just stand by and watch as she walks right into a trap! Everyone in university knows what Luca is like—he's a fucking asshole…" I held up a hand to stop her from getting any further. "Hold it. If everyone knows Luca is an asshole, how can Stacy not be aware?" Cindy looked at me in disbelief when she heard that. "Don't you know how easily influenced Stacy is?" I look into her eyes. "She's an adult. She's capable of making her own judgments and decisions." After that, I got up and left. Cindy's expression turned incredulous. "Have you lost your mind? Didn't your families arrange a betrothal for you two?" I waved a hand without even turning around and said, "That's just something archaic that the adults decided on. We live in a modern society now; it wouldn't do to stick to such archaic practices." After leaving the cafeteria, I headed back to my dorm. Stacy was an adult and capable of making her own choices. It was what she'd told me in my past life. That night, she held Luca's hand tightly and snapped at me, "I'm an adult now! I can make my own judgments and decisions!" I'd tugged them apart before having someone break Luca's hand. On that same night, I'd used my connections to have Stacy transferred to another university. Yet it was also on that night that Stacy had started hating me. Over the next four years, she would do everything she could to get together with Luca. She wouldn't stop at anything to be with him. She hated me, and the one thing she always told me was that she could've found her happiness if not for my interference. She'd also declared that she would eventually make me pay for my actions. Finally, four years later, right before our graduation, she'd bought out a driver from a nearby construction site. She'd had him ram into me with a truck as I walked a path that I always took. As I collapsed in a pool of blood, she had answered a call and tenderly whispered sweet nothings to the person on the other end of the line. Now that I'd gotten another chance at life, I would no longer interfere in her life and choices. Since Luca was the one she'd selected, I would give them my blessings. At the same time, I would get revenge on Stacy. Since she'd killed me, I would give her a taste of torment that was a hundred times worse than death! I clenched my fists tightly under the cover of night.
