Louie met my cold gaze and trembled. He suddenly felt guilty after recalling the text message he had received right after the interview.
"Mr. Wright, I heard this from a friend who works in Taracon Valley. I haven't met Roberto in person, though…" His eyes shifted nervously. "After the interview, I realized who Roberto was, and that's when I made the connection."
Fearing that I might doubt him, he quickly added, "Of course, the final decision is yours, Mr. Wright. I just didn't want to see your company deceived, which is why I decided to speak up."
I pretended to believe him and nodded. Louie's lips curled into a smug smile.
