CHAPTER NINETY EIGHT – BOILING OVER
Erik's protectiveness reached new heights. He rarely let Anna out of his sight, and when pack duties demanded his attention, he made sure she was accompanied by his most trusted wolves. While part of Anna chafed at the restrictions, she couldn't deny the very real danger that surrounded them.
Despite the increased security measures, Anna couldn't shake the feeling that something was about to go terribly wrong. Her dreams had become more intense, filled with shadowy figures and the glint of silver blades. She would often wake gasping for air, the phantom sensation of hands around her throat lingering long after she opened her eyes.
It was on one such night, as Anna lay awake listening to Erik's steady breathing beside her, that she felt an overwhelming urge to check on something in the library. She tried to ignore it, to close her eyes and will herself back to sleep, but the feeling persisted, growing stronger with each passing minute.
