CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY - CRISIS AT ULFHEIM
As they moved through the crowd, Anna tried to take in every detail. Children ran past, waving ribbons in the air. The aroma of roasting meat and mulled wine filled the air.
"What's that dance they're doing?" Anna asked, pointing to a group moving in intricate patterns.
"That's the Solstice Circle," Freya explained. "It's a sacred dance, performed only by the village elders to honor the turning of the year."
Anna watched, fascinated by the grace and solemnity of the dancers. Without thinking, she took a step towards them, drawn by the haunting melody.
Freya's hand shot out, grabbing Anna's arm. "What are you doing?" she hissed.
"I... I just wanted to join in," Anna stammered, confused by Freya's reaction.
Freya's face paled. "That dance is not for outsiders. It's exclusive to the elders."
But it was too late. Several villagers had noticed Anna's movement towards the circle. Whispers rippled through the crowd, and the music faltered.
Elder Bjorn approached, his expression grave.
