Chapter 2 Mr. Harris, Long Time No See

Bang! Her forehead slammed against the glass window. It was slightly painful. Sophia rubbed her forehead lightly and was about to lift her head to see what was happening. The driver was grumbling to himself, but in the end, he still got out of the car. When he saw that he had run into a Bentley, his face turned green. “Such horrible luck. I kept saying that I won’t have good luck transporting disreputable people out of jail, and indeed, there’s nothing good about this…” Sophia was getting out of the car when she was pushed by the bad-tempered driver. She fell heavily into the snow. There was a crowd gathering around them to see what was going on. Most of them were looking down on her. Her face went pale, and she lowered her head. She felt ashamed and hurt. Then, a pair of meticulously polished leather shoes appeared in her vision. She hesitated. She looked up, her gaze following the person’s suit pants. Eventually, she saw the face that had appeared multiple times in her dreams before. The year Sophia was born, Madam White hired someone to read her fortune. That person said everything would go smoothly for her in the first 20 years of her life. However, in the latter half of her life, she would suffer tremendously. She did not expect that the prophecy would unfortunately come true. Charles Harris looked even more handsome and tougher than two years ago. However, his loathing gaze for her was still the same as two years ago. She looked at him blankly. After a while, she finally realized how pathetic she looked. She lowered her head again and struggled to get up. However, when she was about to move, he placed his black umbrella on her shoulder. “I haven’t seen you in two years, and you’ve become mute? Don’t you know how to say hi?” Her leg was in tremendous pain. Her knees felt like they were being stabbed by needles when he pressed down on her with his umbrella. It was so cold, and yet there was a layer of sweat on her forehead. She gritted her teeth and said in a trembling voice, “M-Mr. Harris, long time no see.” Charles towered over her, and he looked at her arrogantly. He had not gotten a clear look when he was in the car. It was only when he got out of the car did he realize that it was her. He had forgotten that today was the day she got out. Looking at her now, he had to admit that there was a huge change in Sophia. Her previously long hair that she used to meticulously care for was now short, following the rules of the detention center. It was also as dry as straw. Her face looked yellow and waxy. There were even some fresh and old wounds on her face. She did not look like the high-spirited little princess of the Whites from back then. However, he was not surprised. She had just come out of a detention center, so how decent could her appearance be right now? Looking at her battered state, Charles’ eyes became cold. They were even colder than the snow falling from the sky. “You’ve changed.” She was taken aback. She lifted her head and saw him lighting a cigarette. The white smoke was swirling around him. He looked even more pretty and flirtatious with the smoke around his face. It would make all living things on earth go crazy. Then, he chuckled lightly. “Since the driver firmly believes that he’s having bad luck today, then we shall not make him think that his judgment is wrong. Mr. Lewis, note down his employee ID. Send him the compensation contract later.” The driver felt like he had been struck by lightning. Sophia was stunned. She did not know how to react. She did not dare to move either. Charles was just like two years ago. He was unwavering when he wanted to kill or pounce on someone. He would have no mercy for his victims. She did not have the ability to provoke him. “Mr. Harris, can I leave if there’s nothing else?” “Leave?” He caught this word that left Sophia’s mouth. He lifted her chin with the tip of his umbrella. His voice was icy. “Sophia, don’t you know that two years is too short a time for you to repent your sins?” Sophia shuddered. It was not because of the weather, but it was because of fear. She could still recall the torture she endured in prison. She would shiver when she thought about it. When she was sent to prison back then, the Whites had decided to disown her. None of them ever visited her in those two years. She knew that Charles was the one behind it. She was just like a fish on his chopping board. She could only let him slaughter her. She did not have the ability to fight back. However, today...
