Chapter 4

At that moment, I suddenly felt dazed. Could it be that the person in front of me was the real Oscar all along? "How does it feel to be bestowed the title of genius and top student? Do you feel proud when you look at me? Do you think that you've become the center of attention at school and home?" Oscar blabbed. I had no idea what was wrong with him. Ever since I had another chance at life, he had resolutely chosen to live in the dorms. During the holidays, he spent most of his time hanging out with Tracy. So, I hardly ever saw him. Logically speaking, I couldn't have done anything to offend him, could I? Seeing my confused expression, he lifted my chin arrogantly as a mocking smile played on his lips. "Let me tell you, Shauna. Don't think that sending people to make snide remarks in front of me will push me back into my old, dull life. Do you really think your little reverse psychology trick is working? What could you possibly do to me if I weren't willing to play along?" Upon hearing him mention reverse psychology, I suddenly understood something. I suspected that quite a few people must have been comparing the two of us lately. He assumed that those making sarcastic comments in front of him were sent by me, trying to provoke him into returning to his former self. Well, it made sense. In my past life, I had indeed used this tactic. Back then, he hadn't been able to avoid taking Novaris University's secondary exam. But even after passing, he still didn't want to leave Tracy. I had deliberately provoked him, saying that he was just afraid of being kicked out and outshined by me. Because of those words, he had thrown himself into his studies at the academy. But in reality, he never completely cut ties with Tracy. They started a long-distance relationship. They even took me along whenever they went on dates to avoid our parents' interference. Later, Tracy couldn't handle the distance anymore and broke up with him. Before breaking up, she told Oscar that she had no choice but to leave him because of my bullying. Oscar panicked after hearing about that. At that time, he was participating in an important academic competition with his mentor. To win Tracy back, he didn't show up for the competition, forcing his mentor to call our parents in the middle of the night. When my parents found out that he had come back just to chase after Tracy, they forcibly sent him back to university and pressured Tracy into breaking up with him for good. Later on, Oscar was still crowned the champion of that academic competition. However, he cut ties with our family completely. Thinking about those ridiculous times, I couldn't help but laugh. Without warning, I flipped my lunch tray over. The food and drink splattered all over Oscar's clothes, causing him to frown in disdain. "Don't think too highly of yourself, Oscar. How your life will turn out won't even come close to the future I'll secure for myself. I won't waste my time on you," I said irritably. With that, I grabbed my tray and turned to leave, only to bump straight into Tracy the moment I turned my head. She stared at Oscar, who was standing behind me, her eyes wide with shock. Within seconds, her eyes reddened. She asked shakily, "Oscar, what do you mean by this? Didn't you say that you wouldn't meet her alone?" Hearing that, Oscar panicked and immediately pushed me aside. He rushed toward his beloved and hurriedly explained, "Tracy, don't misunderstand! I was just trying to make her see reality. Nothing else was going on!" But Tracy refused to listen to his explanation. She shoved him aside and ran away. Instead of chasing after her immediately, Oscar dared to jab his finger at me angrily and bark, "If anything happens to Tracy, I won't forgive you." I was about to lose my mind over these two overdramatic fools. If they hadn't run off so quickly, I swear I would have smacked each of them!
