Chapter 42
AURORA.
After leaving the office, Nathaniel took me to a luxurious restaurant where we waited for the client. The dimly lit interior and the soft murmur of other diners created an intimate atmosphere that I hadn't anticipated.
The entire fiasco with Winter still left me dazed and as I stared at Nathaniel’s calm expression from the corner of my eye as his eyes scanned through the menu, it was hard to believe that he had been angry such a short while ago. Had I imagined it? His face when he’d seen Winter and I talking earlier had been nothing short of vexed, I was sure of it.
But looking at him now, I was beginning to doubt myself. He seemed perfectly at ease. I, on the other hand, wasn’t and it mostly had to do with the sad fact that I’d thrown away my bouquet of roses.
