Chapter 9

Zoe's P.O.V The next few days I decided to stay home and work from here. Crystal and Andi were both present at the company and they could always bring me any files that needed reviewing and if there was a problem they could more than handle it for me. I had just finished making lunch and putting everything into dishes when someone came behind me wrapping their arms around me. From the feeling alone I knew exactly who it was and leaned back into him but what was he doing here? "Babe you're home early, everything okay?" I said turning around in his arms and looking at him and putting my arms around his torso. "I taught that after we have lunch which smells amazing by the way we could go see Amelia and the kids today?" "Right it's Friday we have to visit them, did you get the thing done for them?" "Yup and you for Amelia, love?" "Yes Dar I did," I said kissing his cheek before I let go of him carrying the remaining dishes to the table. He sat down and took out our food putting it on our plates. I had told Selina to take the day off and as for maids well we did not need them yet. When we finished eating we made our way to get ready to visit Amelia and the kids. "Love what's this on the bed?" Daryl said going over to our bed and picking up the baby shoes I placed on it as I walked in behind him. He looked at me confused before his eyes widened in realization. "You're......" "Yup you're going to be a daddy," I said before he walked towards me picking me up. "Thank you," he said kissing me and putting me down. "We're going to have to tell our families so what about Sunday but I really don't want to tell everybody and I want this to be special no paparazzi Dar," I said once he put nodded and took my hand kissing it. "Agreed," he said before I got up and walked to the bathroom to get ready. By the time we arrived at Amelia's kid's school, it had already been dismissed for the day. Daryl and I got out of his Porsche to go get them I saw some kids and their moms and even a few female teachers telling Amelia and the kids things about them not having much. Things that were mean and nobody should be told. What is wrong with the people in society? When we should help and give they are here bullying a poor family and I am sure they don't know the entire story. Amelia must be here because of a parents conference meeting or something and before you go judging her I spoke to her over the phone and she would do anything to keep her kids happy. I myself may not have yet given birth but I know I would give everything except God for this precious little life growing inside of me. Daryl and I made our way over to where they were standing and crowded by the women. "Aunt Zoe!" "Uncle Daryl!" the girls yelled running towards Daryl and me. "Hey little ballerinas," I said stopping and hugging them before they hugged Daryl. Everyone's eyes were on us now but whatever. "Hey, Melia we taught we would come to see you all today as we discussed last day, and are you all ready to leave?" "Yes," she said making her way towards us from where she was. Just then one of the teachers ran up to us and asked us. "Aren't you Zoe Carter and Daryl Grey?" I turned to her smiling. "Yes but actually it is Zoe Grey; sorry to cut you short but we really have to go we plan on spending the afternoon with Melia and the girls," I said before we made out way to the car. Daryl opening our doors and closing them before getting to the driver's side. "Always the gentleman," I said smiling at him as he leaned over and kissed my cheek before driving out of the school's parking lot. Along the way, I made small talk with Amelia and the girls asking them how their day went, etc. Once we got to their home we all made our way inside. "Melia, what were they saying to you all?" "They were just making us understand how poor we are," she said wiping a stray tear on her face. "Listen to me you all are richer than any of them. Sure they have more money but their way of living is disgusting and anyone who can treat innocent people that way is like demons," I said to her. " Also, you see the house constructed a few houses down from here, these are the keys to them and they are yours consider it a gift from Daryl and me," I said holding out the keys to the house Daryl and I decided to have constructed for them. "Oh sweet God thank you!" she said hugging me and then Daryl. "How about we go there now and you can see the place for yourself?" I said as both she and the kids nodded eagerly. Once we got there I turned to her. "Amelia one more thing I would be working from home for a few months and my assistant Crystal will be in charge and I want you to be my third in command seeing as your major is in law. I know you are qualified and originally would be in a very high position if you weren't turned down by the firms you applied to for some unknown reason. I would've been at work as well but something came up recently but I'll be in and out if you all ever need me plus you can call me if necessary or if you just need a friend to talk with. As for Emmy and Liz, you can take as much time you want with them," by this time she pulled me into a hug crying to her heart's content and making me cry as well......Once they got settled Daryl and I got up to leave. "Let me guess you got to go make him dinner and Zoe darling by that glow you have I can tell a baby Grey in on the way?" "Yeah I can't leave my hubby to starve or buy food when I am perfectly capable and not busy or tired and yes we are expecting our first baby," I said laughing before we left. Once we got home I made my way into the kitchen. "Babe!" "Yes, Zoe?" "What do you want for dinner?" I said walking over to the fridge. "Anything is fine but love you don't have too Selina will be here in about an hour's time cook," "I think I will do steak, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. As for dessert chocolate mousse should be fine and I am going to get started till she gets here!" I said getting my ingredients and getting started starting with the potatoes. Not even twenty minutes later Selina came into the kitchen. "Selina I am so sorry that annoying upstairs made you come to work on your day off," I said looking up from the vegetables I was cutting to greet her. "Zoe it is not a problem and I am sure he does not want you to overstress...he told me you were working from home, cooking, and cleaning the house and he was worried so he taught you should relax tonight," she said as I rolled my eyes. "He is just annoying it was no big deal," I said as she laughed and got her apron coming to help me. I know many people are probably thinking if you all are that rich why don't you have maids? Well, Daryl and I had spoken and we decided that the current maids would now leave and work for his family so they won't have to go seeking a new job and when the time comes we would hire maids again. Once dinner was finished I took a shower, changed, and then went and took out his food and gave him at the table before I got my own. "What happened to feminism and didn't I tell you that you should relax a little sometimes?" he said raising an eyebrow at me and yes when I had gone upstairs he lectured me about how I should rest sometimes and not overwork myself. "Well to me feminism is fighting to be treated equally and fairly as men. You and I both know I believe God made us from a man's rib, not under his foot to be stepped on, not over his head to be superior but from his side close to his heart to be loved by him, under his arm to be protected and most importantly by his side to support him and get back that support and respect. It's a team, not ownership. You work and so do I but by the time you get home I should have food prepared, and the house should be clean. Plus when I need a massage or something to be done, even just the car you do it without question. Bringing your food first is nothing and baby stop worrying I am only a few weeks pregnant," I said finishing my little lecture. He just looked at me smiling before we both went back to our meals with a comfortable silence. Once we finished he being the stubborn hard-headed man I know insisted that he would do the dishes and I should go get ready for bed. I told him no because he was tired and it was showing in my defense but his stubborn self don't listen to a thing I say. "Hey, baby can you help me take this off please?" I said turning so he can help me with my zipper. The next morning I woke up wrapped in Daryl's arm who was already awake. "Good morning my love," Daryl said playing with the edge of my hair. "Good morning babe," I said snuggling more into his warmth. "Baby let me get up I have to get ready to go to the office," Daryl said looking down at me but making no attempt to move. "I am going with you today Mr. CEO," I said as he looked at me with a look I knew all too well. "Love before you say no I was going through your old contracts and saw some things that I would need access to the hard copy files at the company and plus it won't be me overworking myself," I said giving him my best puppy eyes. "Fine but you stay in my office till we are finished," he said sitting on the edge of the bed as I jumped hugging him on his back. After taking a shower I walked into our walk-in closet taking out a maroon skirt with a black shirt and my black Louis Vuitton heel for myself and a black tuxedo with a maroon tie for Daryl. After I finished changing I took my purse and walked down the stair to have breakfast which Selina had already prepared for us. "Good morning Selina breakfast looks yummy," I said sitting at the table as she placed my breakfast in front of me. "Good morning Zo and how are you this morning?" she said smiling at me. "I am fine but do you think you can get me some pickles please and cheese with peanut butter?" I asked as she looked at me strangely before snapping out of her daze and getting me what I requested. "Good morning Selina," Daryl said walking in and kissing behind my head before sitting next to me. When Selina came back with my stuff I offered her to have breakfast with us. "Mrs. Grey I couldn't," "Selina just Zoe as I asked you to and my husband can't say anything about it and I insist you have breakfast with us," I said as she nodded and sat next to me. Things felt perfect who knew things would soon become dangerous to both me and our baby.......
