Chapter 5

Zoe's P.O.V Telling Andi felt good to get everything off my chest and praying about it felt even better. I even still had lunch with uncle Kay the next day as I had told him but then he had brought up how much he had like Daryl and was happy he would be his future nephew-in-law which for some reason made me feel horrible that I might hurt him in the end. As for Daryl and I after our little chat in the car that day I have been avoiding Daryl like he was a plague. It's been a week and I have been "accidentally" missing his calls and messages. I missed approximately a hundred missed calls, twenty-five voicemails, and one hundred and ninety-six messages. I am currently at work drowning myself in anything to keep me busy and to not think about him which is almost impossible for me to even think about doing right now. The door opened and without looking up I said "Crystal did you get that file for me?" "No, but I would love to know why you are avoiding me like I am some kind of deadly disease my love," I looked up my eyes widening as I realized exactly who it was. Oh no, I was in trouble now if I wasn't before! "Hey Da-Daryl lovely day isn't it?" I said trying my best not to look into his eyes that seem to be drilling holes into me. "Baby, first of all, it is raining heavily outside and secondly I know you are avoiding me but my question is why love?" He asked coming closer "I was not avoiding you I promise!" I replied getting up from my chair and slowly backed away as he stalked towards me as if I was some sort of Prey and he was a predator. "Really and even my calls, voicemails, and messages?" He said smirking as he walked closer. "Yes, positive and that was because of an umm...mishaps besides you know I have a lot I am currently working on and barely use my phone," I said walking until somehow I hit a wall. Oh, sweet life don't make this feel like one of those movie scenes that happens every single time. He placed his hands on both sides of me trapping me between him. "Babe don't do this please," I begged not realizing what I just said. "Zoe, what did you just call me?" He said but not removing his hands from either side of me "I ca-called yo.....you Daryl," "Oh, really?" He said leaning in closer that I could smell his aftershave. "Yeah of course," I said trying my best to sound confident. "Those lips shouldn't be saying any lies love," he replied taking his right thumb and grazing it on my bottom lip"You're right just like I didn't lie to my uncle right," I said rudely and suddenly feeling guilty that I had spoken to him in that tone. "So anything you want to say and love it wasn't a lie we are to be wed I am sure of it and I think you are too baby?" He said leaning even closer. "I-I no," I said stuttering a little. "Fine then have it your way," he said shrugging before putting his hands on both sides of me and tickling the living daylight out of me. "Sto-st-stop!" I yelled in between my laughter. "Let me think about it how about no or you say what I want to hear you say," he said not stopping at all. "Love please!" I begged yup I may not be mushy actually may not be mushy right now but desperate times come for desperate measures. "Say it again," he said not stopping completely but slowing down. "Love please I am so sorry," I said hugging him as he stopped tickling me and wrapped his arms around me looking down at my face. Both of us started to lean in when the door opened. "Am I interrupting something?" I swear Andi has the worst timing on this planet and to add accident to injury he acted as if he didn't do anything. Now when I told him about the situation he somehow told me to give Daryl a chance and if he were to ruin it leave. "No you just so happen not to have common courtesy and knock before you enter a room," I replied as I rolled my eyes at his childish behavior. "I have no common courtesy at all and you don't know to lock a door so I guess we are even then," he said back before sticking his tongue out teasing me. "You do realize I am your boss right?" "You do realize you are my friend right and I always have your company up to date on all projects?" "Touché," I said turning to Daryl and playing with his tie. Why you may ask. Well, I got no idea. "What are you both up to?" Andi asked whilst taking a seat across from us. "Well someone was ignoring me so I had to come to see her," Daryl said holding on to my hips. Is it wrong that I feel guilty or not? I didn't mean to it was just that after he and I had that conversation I couldn't bring myself to speak to him. I had let go of the past but the thing is I can't just give him a chance I felt heartbreak once and it is more than I could take. I don't want to have to go through it again so that was why I was ignoring him to really think about what Andi said if I am being completely honest about the entire thing and completely honest about the feelings I had and might still have for him. I honestly taught I was over it but now that he is here I don't know what to think. "Honey, you okay?" Daryl said snapping me out of my daze. "I am fantabulous," I replied drawing patterns on his arm. "Oh I almost forgot church Sunday Mr," I said looking at him seriously. "Yes ma'am," "Good and I signed the contract you sent already," I said going back to tracing his arm. "You both do realize I am here right?" "Daryl, did you hear someone say something?" "Zoe....." "There I heard my name," I said pretending that I was hearing things. "I give up Dar man sometimes I wonder how you can handle that thing or should I say creature you call Zoe," he said pointing to me. "Excuse you and only I can call him that thank you very much?" I said turning to Andi. "Wow, now you can hear me," he said shaking his head. This boy was something else. "Anyways you two have fun because I have to go get something but never fret your most amazing and awesome best friend shall be back," Andi said bowing dramatically and walking out "Hey, today you are going to move in with me if that is ok with you?" Daryl said asking me. "Why do you want that we aren't even together?" I said thinking about it. "Well I am going to be brutally honest and it may sound cheesy but I want you near me and not just seeing you at our offices or me taking you out. I want you in our home," he said seriously. "Okay and Dar you have a chance just please don't mess this up and hurt me," "It's okay if you-wait you said okay?" "Last time I check yes I did," "Thank you," "However I have a condition we split the bills," "You don't have to," "I want to Daryl?" "Okay," he said and for some odd reason I don't believe that but he did say okay so I am going to believe him. He sat on my chair pulling me to sit on him. "Your new haircut looks pretty," he said playing with my hair that I cut two days ago. I smiled leaning back into him. "Baby I have to get back to the office but have dinner with me tonight and I will help you pack your stuff," he said tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. "Don't go!" I complained pouting. "Babe...." "But it's so cold right now and here's the contract you made me sign," I said leaning to get the contract from my drawer which I kept it in. "Yes did you read through it and give me the next six months to win your heart but the wedding will have to be moved up love," he said biting my neck gently. "You did though and fine one chance to make things right as I said before also I have given it some taught and I trust you so I just signed it," "Well let me do it over right this time and I promise I won't let go not again unless you tell me that is what you wish," he said kissing my forehead. I get up from him and took his hand and walked with him to the elevator. Andie who just came following behind us. "Later man and we have to discuss the plans I told you about," they said as I looked between them. What were they talking about? Oh well.....Just as I was about to ask the elevator door opened and guess who stepped out? Andi's POV. I spoke to Zoe and Daryl before I decided to give them some privacy. I really hope she listened to me and taught me about trying to work it through with him. She doesn't know but he spoke to me and he genuinely wanted her to at least forgive him and consider giving him at least one chance to fix things between them. What matters is he knows he messed up and was bent on fixing it he even told me his side of the story and as much as I wanted to kill him I understood where he was coming from and I understand that he was hurt as well. When I walked into my office Crystal came strolling in sitting on my couch and placed her feet on the coffee table bag of chips in hand. "Hello to you too," I said rolling my eyes at her. "Ok cut the crap why did you fill my office with balls and I literally mean fill; I was swimming just to get to my desk?" She said as I burst out laughing. "That was payback for sliming me," I replied. She, Zoe, and I had this thing where we would prank each other and it was all fun and games for us. We did know when to be serious though. That is why Zoe is able to upkeep the companies she owns, me being able to handle a new but competitive tech company, and Crystal being Zoe's right-hand man or woman in this case. "Andi, what do you think about her and Daryl?" Crystal asked rocking back. "I think she should give him a chance and I know he was messed up before but he picked himself up and that is saying something because not many people are willing to man up and admit that they were messed up," I said seriously before turning to my computer. "I know but we know how hurt she was," she said looking worried. "Look he spoke to me and he knows he does not deserve her but you know what at least instead of giving up he made the decision to fix things," I told her. I know she was worried about Zoe but she can handle herself and if she needs us we are right here for her. She just nodded and walked up to the bookshelf behind my desk. I tried to change the window but she saw. "What..." before she could finish I got up. "I know and I haven't told Zo but I will," with that I got up and went to see her and Daryl. As Daryl walked to the elevator with her accompanying hin someone showed up...
